Can you dropship on Wix?

Yes, and the price is honest

$29 a month on Core, 0% platform commission, 2.9% + 30¢ on cards. That is the cheapest legitimate way to have a real store, and there is no hidden transaction penalty of the kind Shopify applies to third-party gateways.

The editor is the easiest of the five major platforms, the templates look current, and a non-technical person gets a decent store built in a day. As a place to test one product for the smallest possible monthly commitment, it works.

The catch is the supply chain

Wix does not have a first-class AliExpress path. Its own solution is Modalyst, whose catalogue is narrower than AliExpress by an order of magnitude, or Spocket at $39.99/mo on top of your plan.

Price the realistic setups against each other at 100 orders and $5,000 of revenue:

• Shopify Basic + DSers free: $39 + $175 in card fees = $214/mo
• Wix Core + Spocket: $29 + $175 + $39.99 = $244/mo, before the 20-40% unit-cost premium

The template lock

Changing template on Wix means rebuilding pages, not swapping a theme. On Shopify a theme change is an afternoon and your products, collections and content survive it.

That matters more than it sounds. Your first store design will be wrong, because you designed it before you had any conversion data. On Shopify that is a Saturday. On Wix it is starting again.

What Wix does well

• $29/mo with 0% commission, which is honest pricing with no gateway penalty
• The easiest editor of the five. Non-technical users are not fighting it
• Bookings, blog and email bundled, rather than three more app subscriptions
• No 2% third-party gateway fee, which is a real advantage in markets where Shopify Payments is unavailable

That last point is worth checking before you dismiss it. In an unsupported market Shopify’s penalty is $100 a month on $5,000, which changes the comparison materially.

What migrating later costs

Treating Wix as a test bench is fine as long as you know the bill for leaving.

• Products export and re-import, but variant structures rarely survive cleanly
• URLs change, so every link you built needs a redirect or it becomes a 404
• Reviews are held by the review app, and not all of them export
• Your email list moves easily; the flows and their history do not
• Pixel and conversion history start again on the new domain path

None of it is fatal. All of it is a weekend you will resent, and it arrives at the exact moment the store is working and you least want to touch it.

The decision

Choose Wix if you are non-technical, testing one product on the smallest possible commitment, and sourcing through Spocket or Modalyst rather than AliExpress.

Choose Shopify if your plan is AliExpress plus DSers, which is the plan for most people starting out, or if you expect to change the design once you have data.
