How long does AliExpress shipping take to Australia?
Short answer
AliExpress Standard Shipping takes 8 to 18 days to an Australian address door to door, including 1-3 days of supplier processing. Cainiao Expedited runs 7 to 14 days for $2-$4 more per order. Once you sell more than AUD 75,000 into Australia in 12 months you must register and charge 10% GST at checkout on consignments up to AUD 1,000, not at the border.
| Shipping line | Australia delivery | Typical cost | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| AliExpress Standard Shipping | 8-18 days | $2-$6 | The default. Add 2-5 days outside the capital cities. |
| Cainiao Expedited / Premium | 7-14 days | $4-$9 | The upgrade to make once a product is working. |
| AliExpress Saver | 20-40 days | $0-$3 | Do not put paid traffic behind this. |
| AU warehouse listing | 2-6 days | $5-$12 | Very few SKUs, and stock disappears without warning. |
| Agent line (YunExpress, 4PX) | 5-10 days | $3-$7 | Realistic from roughly 30 orders a day. |

The honest numbers
8 to 18 days on AliExpress Standard Shipping to an Australian address. Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane sit at the fast end; Perth, Adelaide and anything regional sit 3-5 days behind on the identical shipment.
The spread comes from supplier dispatch (1-3 days, sometimes 5) and how long the parcel waits for space on a route into Australia. There are fewer of those routes than into the US, which is the whole reason the same product takes longer.
The 10% GST rule
Australia removed its low-value import exemption in 2018, and the obligation landed on overseas sellers rather than on the border.
- Consignments up to AUD 1,000: if you sell more than AUD 75,000 to Australian consumers in a 12-month period, you register with the ATO and collect 10% GST at checkout. Your customer pays nothing on delivery.
- Above AUD 1,000: GST and any customs duty are assessed at the border and billed to the recipient.
- Under the threshold: no registration required, and low-value parcels generally arrive without a tax stop.
The practical version: at AUD 75,000 of Australian revenue you cross into a different business. On a AUD 79.95 product that is fewer than a thousand orders, which one working campaign reaches in a couple of months.
Price the 10% in before you get there. On a AUD 79.95 sale, GST is AUD 7.27 (79.95 x 10 / 110), and that comes straight out of gross profit. Put it into the break-even calculator as a per-order cost so the ROAS you scale against is the one you actually keep. Europe has the same problem with sharper numbers — EU dropshipping VAT covers it.
What actually changes the delivery time
The supplier. Two listings for the same product differ by four days. Sort by order count, read the recent reviews with photos, and message before you send volume.
The shipping line. Set per order in DSers. The supplier default is often not the fastest option available on that listing, and checking takes a minute.
Where the customer lives. A national campaign reaches Perth and regional NSW, so the window you state has to cover them, not just the east coast metros.
Chinese New Year
Factories close for 2-4 weeks in late January or February and the backlog takes another 2-3 weeks to clear — 7-21 days of extra delay across roughly six weeks. It lands in the middle of the Australian summer, which is peak season for outdoor and pool products. Order deeper stock in December, switch to a supplier with local inventory for the period, or pause spend and film creative.
How to state it without losing sales
Australian buyers are used to waiting for imported goods and are unusually tolerant of a stated window. They are not tolerant of silence.
- “Delivered in 10-18 business days” above the add-to-cart button
- Say plainly whether GST is included in the price
- Repeat both at checkout and in the shipping policy
- Tracking within 48 hours, and a second update if it stalls past five days
Stores that state the window plainly stay under 1% chargebacks. Stores that bury it run 3-8%, and payment processors react at around 1%.
When to leave AliExpress for Australian orders
At roughly five to ten orders a day. There is no Australian equivalent of a US warehouse network in dropshipping, so the realistic upgrade is an agent line at 5-10 days rather than local stock — the same step covered in AliExpress shipping time to Canada, where the constraint is also freight rather than the supplier.
Compare the landed cost and the delivery window of every option on the supplier comparison before you switch. A supplier that saves $1.20 a unit and adds four days will cost you more in refunds than it saves.
