How long does AliExpress shipping take to Canada?
Short answer
AliExpress Standard Shipping takes 8 to 18 days to a Canadian address door to door, including 1-3 days of supplier processing. Cainiao Expedited runs 7 to 14 days for $2-$4 more per order. Goods shipped from China are only duty and tax free under CAD 20, so almost every order you sell can be assessed GST or HST plus a CAD 9.95 postal handling fee on delivery.
| Shipping line | Canada delivery | Typical cost | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| AliExpress Standard Shipping | 8-18 days | $2-$6 | The default. Customs and Canada Post add 1-4 days on top. |
| Cainiao Expedited / Premium | 7-14 days | $4-$9 | Worth the upgrade above CAD 35 retail. |
| AliExpress Saver | 15-30 days | $0-$3 | Unusable behind paid traffic. |
| US warehouse listing | 3-8 days | $4-$10 | Crosses one border. CUSMA thresholds are higher than postal. |
| Agent line (YunExpress, 4PX) | 5-10 days | $3-$7 | Needs roughly 30 orders/day before an agent engages. |

The honest numbers
8 to 18 days on AliExpress Standard Shipping to a Canadian address, which is a few days slower than the same parcel to the US. Two things add the difference: fewer direct air routes into Canada and a final leg with Canada Post that can add 1-4 days after customs.
The range is wide because supplier dispatch (1-3 days, sometimes 5) and the consolidation route out of China are both outside your control. Quote the top of the range on your product page and let people be pleasantly surprised.
The CAD 20 threshold nobody prices in
This is the part that separates Canada from the US, and most guides skip it.
Goods shipped from China are only free of duty and tax when the consignment is worth under CAD 20. Practically nothing you sell profitably is under CAD 20, so almost every order is assessable:
- GST at 5% federally, or HST at 13% in Ontario and 15% across the Atlantic provinces
- Provincial sales tax on top in BC, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Quebec
- A CAD 9.95 handling fee on postal items assessed by Canada Post, or CAD 10-20 of courier brokerage
The failure mode is predictable. Your customer pays CAD 49.99, then gets asked for roughly CAD 6.50 of tax plus CAD 9.95 to release the parcel. That is a 33% surcharge on an order they already paid for, and a meaningful share of those people refuse the parcel instead of paying.
Refused parcels become chargebacks. Stores that state their terms plainly stay under 1% disputes; stores that let customers find out at the door run 3-8%, and processors start holding payouts at around 1%.
The US warehouse route around it
Fulfilling Canadian orders from a US warehouse changes both numbers at once. Delivery drops to 3-8 days, and because the goods ship by courier from the US, the CUSMA thresholds apply instead: CAD 40 for taxes and CAD 150 for duties.
That is the single biggest change you can make for a Canadian audience, and it is why CJdropshipping’s US stock is the usual answer once a product works. The delivery windows for every supplier are in best suppliers for fast US shipping.
What else moves the delivery time
The supplier. Two listings for the identical product routinely differ by four days. Sort by order count, read recent photo reviews, and message the supplier before you send them volume.
The shipping line. Set per order in DSers, and the supplier’s default is frequently not the fastest option on that listing. It is a one-minute check that saves a week.
Rural and northern addresses. Add 2-5 days beyond the major metros, and more for the territories. If your ads run nationally, your stated window has to cover it.
Chinese New Year
Factories close for 2-4 weeks in late January or February and the backlog clears over another 2-3 weeks — 7-21 days of extra delay across roughly six weeks. Move stock into a US warehouse in December, switch suppliers for the period, or pause spend and film creative instead.
How to state it without losing sales
Canadian buyers are used to cross-border charges and will forgive a wait they were told about. What they will not forgive is a surprise at the door.
- “Delivered in 10-18 business days” above the add-to-cart button
- A plain line on whether duties and taxes are included or payable on delivery
- The same wording at checkout and in your shipping policy
- Tracking within 48 hours, and a second update if tracking stalls past five days
If you can afford it, absorb the tax and say so: “All duties and taxes included” is worth more in conversion on a Canadian audience than most discount codes.
When to leave AliExpress for Canadian orders
At roughly five to ten orders a day, and sooner than you would for the US because the customs step amplifies every delay. Move to a supplier with US stock, put the new landed cost through the break-even calculator, and compare the options on the supplier comparison.
