How long does AliExpress shipping take to the USA?
Short answer
AliExpress Standard Shipping takes 8 to 20 days door to door in the US, including 1-3 days of supplier processing. Cainiao Expedited runs 6-12 days for $2-$4 more per order. Add 7-21 days for roughly six weeks around Chinese New Year, when factories close and the backlog clears slowly.
| Shipping line | United States | Western Europe | Typical cost | Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AliExpress Standard Shipping | 8-20 days | 7-15 days | $2-$6 | The default. Tracking works but is slow to update. |
| Cainiao Expedited / Premium | 6-12 days | 5-10 days | $4-$9 | Worth the upgrade on any product above $30 retail. |
| AliExpress Saver | 15-30 days | 12-25 days | $0-$3 | Do not use this for paid traffic. Ever. |
| US warehouse listings | 2-6 days | n/a | $4-$10 | Limited SKUs, stock runs out without warning. |

The honest numbers
8 to 20 days to the US on AliExpress Standard Shipping. That range is wide because it includes two variables you do not control: how long the supplier takes to dispatch (1-3 days, sometimes 5) and which consolidation route the parcel takes.
Marketing pages that quote “7-12 days” are quoting the best case in a good month. Plan for the middle of the range and communicate the top of it.
Other markets run to their own clock: 7-15 days to the UK, 8-18 days to Canada and Australia.
What actually determines the speed
The supplier, not the platform. Two listings for the identical product will differ by four days. Sort by orders, read recent reviews, and message the supplier before you send them volume — the good ones answer in hours.
The shipping line you select. This is set per order in DSers, and the default is not always the best option. Check it before you launch ads, not after.
Whether stock sits in a local warehouse. Some AliExpress suppliers hold US stock, which cuts delivery to 2-6 days. The listings are limited and stock runs out without warning, so verify before you build a campaign on it.
Chinese New Year is the real risk
Factories close for 2-4 weeks in late January or February, and the backlog takes another 2-3 weeks to clear. Expect 7-21 days of extra delay for roughly six weeks.
Every year a wave of stores dies in March because they kept spending through it. Your options:
- Move stock into a US or EU warehouse in December
- Switch to a supplier with local inventory for the period
- Pause ad spend and use the time for creative production
Doing nothing and hoping is what produces the chargeback wave.
How to state delivery times without losing sales
Hiding the window does not work. Stores that hide it run 3-8% chargeback rates; stores that state it plainly run under 1%, and payment processors start holding payouts at around 1%.
What works:
- Put “Delivered in 8-14 business days” above the add-to-cart button
- Repeat it at checkout
- Send a shipping confirmation with tracking within 48 hours
- Send a second update if tracking stalls for more than five days
Framing helps: “Ships from our overseas warehouse — 8-14 business days” converts better than a bare number, because it explains the delay rather than apologising for it.
When to stop using AliExpress
At around five to ten orders a day, the refund conversations start eating your time and your margin. That is the point to move to a supplier holding US stock at 2-5 days, or to a private agent at 30+ orders a day for a 4-9 day dedicated line and 10-25% off your unit cost.
Before switching, put the new landed cost into the break-even calculator. A supplier that is $1.20 cheaper per unit but four days slower usually costs more in refunds than it saves.
