How long does AliExpress shipping take to Germany?

suppliersUpdated 2026-08-18

Short answer

AliExpress Standard Shipping takes 7 to 15 days to Germany door to door, including 1-3 days of supplier processing. Cainiao Expedited runs 5 to 10 days for $2-$4 more. Since July 2021 every import is taxable: consignments up to EUR 150 can have 19% German VAT collected at checkout through IOSS, and above EUR 150 VAT and duty are charged at the border.

The honest numbers

7 to 15 days on AliExpress Standard Shipping to a German address, and Germany is one of the better EU destinations because the customs handling is efficient and predictable.

The spread comes from supplier dispatch time (1-3 days, sometimes 5) and the consolidation route out of China. Add 1-3 days in November and December when clearance queues build.

The tax rules you have to price in

Selling into the EU is not selling into the US. Two thresholds decide what happens to your parcel and your margin:

  • Up to EUR 150: import VAT is due. With an IOSS registration you charge 19% German VAT at checkout and remit it through one monthly return. Without IOSS, the courier collects VAT from your customer on delivery and adds a EUR 6-12 handling fee.
  • Above EUR 150: VAT plus customs duty at the border, billed to the recipient unless you ship delivered-duty-paid.

The failure mode is the second scenario. Your customer paid EUR 39.99 and then gets asked for EUR 7.60 of VAT plus a EUR 6 handling charge before the parcel is released. Some pay it. Many refuse the parcel, and refused parcels become chargebacks.

The rates, the IOSS mechanics and the arithmetic for every large EU market are in EU dropshipping VAT. Whichever route you choose, the VAT is a real per-order cost. Put it into the break-even calculator as an “other cost per order” so your break-even ROAS is honest — 19% of the selling price moves that number substantially.

What actually changes the delivery time

The supplier. Two listings for the same product differ by days. Sort by orders, read recent photo reviews, message before you send volume.

The shipping line. Set per order in DSers. The supplier default is frequently not the fastest option available on that listing.

EU warehouse stock. Suppliers holding stock in Germany, Czechia or Poland deliver in 2-5 days with no customs step and no VAT surprise at the door — every EU-stocked option is compared here. That combination is worth a higher unit price on almost any product.

Chinese New Year

Factories close for 2-4 weeks in late January or February and the backlog clears over another 2-3 weeks — 7-21 days of extra delay across roughly six weeks. Move stock into an EU warehouse in December, switch suppliers for the period, or pause and film creative.

How to state it in German-market copy

German consumers are the least tolerant of vague delivery promises in Europe, and consumer protection expectations are correspondingly high.

  • Give a concrete window in working days above the add-to-cart button
  • Say explicitly whether VAT and duties are included in the price
  • Repeat both at checkout and in the shipping policy
  • Send tracking within 48 hours, and a second update if it stalls past five days

Stores that state the window plainly stay under 1% chargebacks. Stores that bury it run 3-8%, and processors react at around 1%.

When to leave AliExpress for EU orders

Sooner than you would for the US, because the customs step amplifies every delay. At five to ten orders a day, move to a supplier with EU stock: CJdropshipping ships 3-6 days from its German warehouse on stocked SKUs, and HyperSKU or a private agent runs 4-8 day lines with IOSS handled on their side. The full comparison is on the supplier page.

What is IOSS and do I need it as a dropshipper?

The Import One-Stop Shop lets you collect EU VAT at checkout on consignments up to EUR 150 and remit it through a single registration instead of paying import VAT at each border. Without it, VAT plus a handling fee of EUR 6-12 is charged to your customer on delivery, which produces refused parcels and chargebacks. If you sell into the EU at any volume, IOSS is the normal setup.

Does the EUR 22 duty-free limit still exist?

No. It was abolished on 1 July 2021. Every commercial import into the EU is subject to VAT regardless of value, and customs duty applies above EUR 150. Any guide still describing a EUR 22 exemption was written before that change and should be treated as out of date throughout.

This is one question out of a much longer guide. The full breakdown lives onthe supplier comparison, and you can run your own numbers in thebreak-even calculator.
